Dear Dr. M and Liz,
There's a boy in my math class who copies off my math test. What should I do?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Shannon,
It is frustrating and unfair when you've studied for a test and someone cheats off you. Let this boy know in a direct way that you don't want him copying off your test. You might also offer to help him with math so that he won't need to cheat in the future. Teaching him will help you, since teaching is a great way for you to learn the material better.

Liz's Answer
Dear Shannon,
First, do everything you can so he can't cheat off of you. Cover your paper with your hand and turn over your paper as soon as you're done. You can even try writing really small. If those strategies don't work, tell him to stop and let him know that if he doesn't, you're going to talk to the teacher. If it comes to that, be true to your word and talk to the teacher.
