Dear Dr. M and Liz,
How are you supposed to keep up with your homework if you never have a clue what your teacher is talking about in school? Whenever my teacher calls on me and I never get the right answer, people laugh at me and think so much less of who I really am! I really need help on how to solve this problem, and QUICK…I have to do my homework!!!

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Anjani,
Start by telling your teacher what you don't understand in class. Ask her for suggestions about how to study and do your homework. Your mom or dad might also have some ideas to help you do your schoolwork. The other students should not be laughing when you answer incorrectly. That's just mean. If you let your teacher know that it bothers you to hear them laughing when you get the wrong answers, maybe she'll talk to the students about their behavior.

Liz's Answer
Dear Anjani,
Everyone learns in a different way. Maybe your style doesn't match your teacher's way. Before or after class, ask your teacher to explain anything you're having trouble understanding. And when you're in class, ask your teacher to explain things in a different way since the first way wasn't clear. Try not to let what other kids think get to you. What matters is what you think about you.
