Dear Dr. M and Molly,
HELP! My BFF is skipping class and she needs to go to school! But if I tell her to stop she might not like me anymore. What should I do?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Lisa,
When you have a best friend who is doing something that is hurting her, you need to act. Although she might not want to hear what you have to say and might even be angry with you at first, you are talking to her because you care about her. Skipping classes will not solve any of her problems. If your BFF doesn't listen to you, think about talking to an adult—a parent or a guidance counselor, for example—who can help her.

Liz's Answer

Dear Lisa,
You need to help your friend. She may not realize it, but cutting class is really going to affect her later on. Tell her how much she is missing in school and that her grades are going to drop. By starting to skip class, even if it only is a few times, she will want to do it more and more. Your friend is going to get into trouble, so even if she gets a little mad, don't you think it's worth trying to help her now?
