Dear Dr. M and Molly,
I am in seventh grade, and I have liked the same boy since fourth grade! Lately, I have mostly been hanging out with him, and I think that he likes me. The only problem is, I think that my two best friends feel neglected. I know that they really want this for me (as do I for myself), but how can I juggle my "relationship" and my friendships without dropping one of them?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Katira,
You say that you "mostly" hang out with the guy you like, so if you want to keep your friendships strong, you will need to spend a little less time with him and a bit more with your two best friends. Although your friends seem to be understanding and want you to be happy, don't take them for granted. No matter what happens with your relationship with the guy you now like, you want to be sure you don't lose those close friendships.

Liz's Answer

Dear Katira,
It can be very exciting to like a boy, but you can't let it take away your other friendships. Try not to talk about this boy too much in front of your friends, so they don't feel like you only care about him. Also, try not to spend too much time with one or the other. Your friends will be happy for you, but you have to let them know that they are very important to you as well.
