Dear Dr. M and Molly,
Everyone in my class thinks I'm weird because I'm friends with a person who can't hear right. Do you think I should stop being friends with her or continue being her friend?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Theses,
Your classmates have no right to judge you because of your friendship with someone who has difficulty hearing. Continue to be her friend. At the same time, try to teach your classmates about true friendships, which are based on treating each other with respect and kindness.

Liz's Answer
Dear Theses,
Don't be ashamed of who you're friends with. Even if someone can't hear exactly like everyone else, that doesn't make them less than anyone else. It just makes them different and unique. As for the kids who are teasing you, just ignore them or say something like: "You're just jealous because you wish you could be friends with her." Follow your heart and do what you know is right.
