Dear Dr. M,
I have a friend who always gets brand-new clothes, and I always get hand-me-downs. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but she always brags about it!!! Please help!

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Tori,
It's not easy having to listen to your friend bragging when you don't have the same opportunity that she does. Try not to pay attention to her when she goes on and on about her new clothes. If she doesn't get a reaction from you, she might begin to understand how you feel and will tone down her excitement.

Liz's Answer
Dear Tori,
The best thing to do is to talk to your friend and explain how you feel when she talks about her new clothes. Your friend probably doesn't realize she's bragging—she's just excited about her new stuff. Once you bring it up, maybe she'll be more sensitive in the future.
