Dear Dr. M,
My friend told me something about another friend that I'm not supposed to tell anyone about, but either way it goes, the other friend will get in serious trouble. Is there any way I can stop my friend from getting in trouble or seriously getting hurt or maybe even killed? Help me.

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Kaesha,
If you have information that a friend might be in danger in some way, you must tell an adult right away—either the girl's parent, your mom or dad, or a guidance counselor or principal at school. It is possible that the friend who gave you the information did not tell you the truth about your other friend, but just on the possibility that the information is accurate, you should tell an adult.

Liz's Answer
Dear Kaesha,
Talk to an adult you trust who would be able to help your friend who's in trouble. Without revealing where you got the information, you might also talk to the friend who you think will get into trouble. Tell her you're willing to do whatever you can to help her.
