Dear Dr. M and Liz,
My best friend and I are being separated. She's going to a different school than me. We were always together and now we're getting separated. I don't know how to live without her. Can you help me?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Regina,
Although it will be harder on the two of you to stay best friends when you don't see each other all the time, if you really want your friendship to remain strong, you're both going to have to make an extra effort to stay connected. How? By calling or emailing each other on a regular basis and by making and keeping plans to get together after school and on the weekends. When you have a really strong bond with a friend, you'll find that when you do see each other, you'll just naturally take up where you left off—and you'll still be able to share the important things in life.

Liz's Answer
Dear Regina,
Last year, my best friend started going to a different school from the one I was going to. I already had one other good friend at my school, and the two of us became better friends. My best friend and I are still best friends, but now I have two best friends. I think that you should try to make new friends at your school, but also stay friends with your best friend.
