Dear Dr. M and Liz,
I like reading, but my classmates don't. Some even call me a reading nerd. What should I do?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Eli,
Keep reading and you'll go far. Reading is not only an important skill that you use throughout your life, but it's fun too! Try to ignore the name-calling, although I know it's not easy. Help your classmates to see how valuable reading is—whether they're interested in sports (they can find out about athletes), games (they'll need to read the directions), or music (they may want to study the words to a song). My love of reading helped me become Dr. M.

Liz's Answer

Dear Eli,
Keep on reading. It doesn't matter what the other kids say. You're your own person, so do what you think is right. By the way, a lot of kids love to read just like you do. I'm one of them!
