Dear Dr. M,
My sister is 13 years old. I know she’s supposed to be a little mean, but I can’t talk without her getting mad at me. How can I stay out of her way or even get along with her?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Mackenzie,
Who says your sister is supposed to be a little mean? Just because she's now a teenager doesn't mean that she's allowed to treat her family in a mean way. You need to let her know that you'd like to get along with her and don't appreciate it when she reacts with anger when you talk to her. Tell her that you like having an older sister to learn from. Maybe when she hears that, she'll be a little nicer to you.
