Dear Dr. M and Liz,
Kids at school make fun of me. They call me names like "fat," "ugly," "take that Halloween mask off" and "you are so dumb."

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Kenzie,
The kids at school who call you names are bullies, and you don't deserve that kind of treatment. Ignoring bullies often doesn't work, so if you can, tell them to stop their name calling. If they continue, tell your mom or dad or teacher what you are experiencing and how upsetting it is to you. Sometimes, bullies only stop when an adult takes action.

Liz's Answer
Dear Kenzie,
People making fun of you is not OK, and you need to make that clear to them. Talk to these kids and say that you don't like what they are saying. Say it in a stern and confident way, like it's not a question but a command. Hopefully they will stop. If not you should tell a parent or teacher so they can personally talk to these bullies. These kids who make fun of you probably do it because they are upset with something about themselves and find it easier to take it out on you. I hope things get better.
