Dear Dr. M and Liz,
Well, how do I start? My glasses are kind of round, well really round, and I am sick and tired of being laughed at. Someone (and there is only one person) always makes fun of me. It really hurts my feelings. What should I do?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Brittni,
Sometimes kids tease to help them feel better about themselves. But that's not an excuse—being made fun of hurts. Your appearance, including your glasses, is only one small part of who you are. What's most important is how you feel about yourself. People should value you for what you're like as a person, not for how you look.

Liz's Answer
Dear Brittni,
Just ignore the person who's making fun of you. I know that teasing must hurt your feelings, but try to ignore her—she's really not that important. If you're really self-conscious about your glasses, know that you won't have them forever. Eventually you'll be able to get a new pair, one that is better suited to you and your personality.
