Dear Dr. M and Liz,
I am having problems with certain boys at school who love and like me. Why is that? How can I ignore them when they follow me around everywhere? My mom recommended that I talk to you. Thank you for your time.

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Brooke,
I'm glad your mom suggested you write to us. You can't control how someone feels about you, but if you are bothered by these boys following you around, let them know how you feel in a way that doesn't hurt them. For example, you might say that you appreciate that they want to spend time with you, but you need time to spend with others or by yourself.

Liz's Answer
Dear Brooke,
You're right—its' hard to ignore boys when they follow you around, and yelling at them probably won't help either since they're just looking for attention. One thing you could try is to become friends with the boys. Maybe once you get to know them they won't seem so annoying.
