Dear Dr. M and Liz,
All of my friends are starting to grow except me. It's not fair. What should I do?

Dr. M's Answer

Dear Taylor,
It's hard being patient, isn't it? But every girl grows at her own rate. Some girls go through their "growth spurt," a time of fast growing, when they're nine, while others don't start until they're 12 or 13. You can't speed up your growth, but you can take care of yourself by eating healthy food, getting enough sleep, and being active.

Liz's Answer
Dear Taylor,
That's what happened to me too. And now, at age 16, I'm taller than some of my friends, even though I'm only 5 feet, 2 inches. What's most important is liking who you are and appreciating what you look like. That's why my mom and I wrote the book Getting to Know the Real You: 50 Fun Quizzes Just for Girls. One of our quizzes is called "What's Your Body Self-Esteem?"
