You might know Maya and her twin brother, Miguel, from their hit show on PBS, "Maya & Miguel." But did you know Maya is teaming up with the Girl Scouts to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month? Check out what Maya has to say about being Hispanic, having a twin brother, and being a brand-new Girl Scout!

Q: What level of Girl Scouts are you?

Maya: I'm 10, going on 11! So I'm a Girl Scout Junior, which is for girls in 4th and 5th grades.

Q: Why did you become a Girl Scout?

Maya:
It's fun! I'm making lots of new friends and getting all sorts of new badges. Best of all, I get to help make the world a better place. Mejorar el mundo! –. It feels great to help other people, and I love having new adventures.

Q: How will you be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month?

Maya:
Miguel and I are calling Hispanic Heritage Month our "Latin Fun Fiesta!" He and I are teaming up with Girl Scouts to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month at JuntaHispana® events in many cities across the country. I hope that you will all come out and join us for the fiesta - party!

Q: What makes you happy?

Maya:
What makes me happy most is my family. They're always there for me, no matter what. My twin brother Miguel also makes me happy. I always have someone to play with, and have adventures with, so that's fun too. On the other hand, Miguel always knows what I'm thinking, and he's sometimes not so excited about my big plans. He'll say "Yo te conozcoo…" which means "I know you…" in Spanish, and he'll try and talk me out of some of my best ideas!

But in the end, it sometimes saves me from getting into big trouble. SO, I guess I'd have to say that it's awesome having a twin brother like Miguel! And our pet Paco is great—even if he does silly things!

Q: What is your favorite thing to say?

Maya:
That's a great question. I actually say "¡Eso es!" which means "That's it!" in Spanish. I sometimes say things in Spanish because I speak both languages! Now you can say "¡Eso es!" in Spanish when you have a big idea.
